BUENOS AIRES (Dow Jones)--Argentina's jobless rate dipped during the second quarter of the year as a strong economic rebound fueled hiring.

The unemployment rate at the end of June fell to 7.9%, down from 8.8% a year earlier, President Cristina Fernandez said during a press conference Thursday.

Unemployment during the first quarter of the year came in at 8.3%. The 2009 jobless rate peaked at 9.1% during the third quarter of last year.
